Small Business
Small business is the heart and soul of our economy. Many people come to this country with an entrepreneurial vision. Others already own a business and want to grow. Our small business team is flexible in their approach, as we work with each small business client.
NewVue Communities’ Small Business Technical Assistance program will work with you to help complete a business plan and set of financial projections.
As an organization committed to community development and prosperity, we work with all types of small business (those with 20 employees or fewer) — from farms, groceries and restaurants, to artists and accountants.
The NewVue Communities Small Business Technical Assistance program is funded, in part, by Massachusetts Growth Capital Corporation, in partnership with the City of Fitchburg and the Unites States Department of Agriculture.
How Can We Help
Because we custom fit our small business assistance to meet the needs of potential business owners and established business owners, no two support plans are the same. These are some of our key focus areas:
One-on-One Technical Assistance: We help build customized business plans with support to grow existing businesses, obtain additional funding or communicate the feasibility of start-up ideas.
Credit Initiative: We help clients gain access to the best available credit and improve their credit ratings. We help businesses that don’t qualify for market rate loans connect with alternative lenders such as the North Central Massachusetts Development Corporation, the City of Fitchburg and other community development financial institutions such as Bay Colony Development Corp.
Support for Thriving Downtowns: We partner and offer development support for the cities of Fitchburg, Leominster, Gardner, Athol, Clinton and other communities in our region.
Rural Initiative: We assist farmers and other rural food businesses in growing their operations.
Creative Economy: We are committed to building and maintaining creative economies, and we provide expertise to assist artists and other creatives. The creative economy includes art, design, culture and other innovation industries, and the economic contribution of those industries within a geographic region.

Our Success Stories
NewVue has assisted hundreds of businesses over the years. They are diverse in their business models, products and service delivery. Some have started from the ground up and some businesses were purchased from a retiring business owner. They have one thing in common. All businesses are run by owners who are proud of their work, and they desire to bring strength to the communities serving as home for their business.
Mamajuana
Victor Vicioso Frias approached the NewVue SBTA team when he was planning the launch of a Spanish/American Restaurant, Mamajuana at 423 Main Street in Fitchburg, MA. The restaurant’s primary target is and would continue to be the Spanish speaking market. This great addition Main Street brought five new jobs to the Main Street area.
Red Apple Farm
We helped Al and Nancy Rose expand their business from Phillipston to other Massachusetts communities through collaborations with Wachusett Mountain and Boston Public Market. Then, we helped them expand their hard cider business.
Bike Shop
Prior to opening the Brake Bike Shop we worked closely with Josh to develop a business plan that included everything from a careful review of products and services to be delivered, a market analysis, marketing strategy, and a financial plan.
Pauper's Pantry
The Pauper’s Pantry is a woman owned food service business operating out of 695 Main Street Fitchburg, MA (Fitchburg State University Theatre Block). The business is owned by Dawn Aker-Ayala as a single member Massachusetts LLC. Food preparation is out of the leased commercial space in downtown Fitchburg. The Pauper’s Pantry offers an extensive menu which includes artisan boards, creative sliders, homestyle BBQ, brunch, gourmet sandwich boards, array of starters and main entrees. Six jobs were created with the addition of the small business.
