Community Organizing

Mini Grants

Past projects organized by stewards and supported by NewVue Communities include:

The Chalk Art Festival

This festival was held at Lowe Playground in Fitchburg, spotlighting chalk art. Folks of all ages and backgrounds participated in a panel-judged competition with winning entries receiving prizes.

The River City Rhythm and Rock Festival

The River City Rhythm and Rock Festival, held at Riverfront Park in downtown Fitchburg, features local musicians, performers, and break dancers, offering young artists a community showcase.

Empower Children for Success – Calming Kits Project

The Calming Kits Project was born during the COVID-19 pandemic. The project creates baskets of toys to help parents and teachers support children in regulating their emotions through play.  Hundreds of teaching baskets have reached parents and teachers, supported by mental health professionals from local community-based organizations.

MOC Community Mosaic

This project mobilized children, youth and adults to paint more than 100 individual mosaics, which were then connected in a collaborative mural project. The project was an art therapy exercise that helped individuals reflect on their trauma and heal as they participated. The mosaic mural is on display at the offices of Make Opportunity Count (MOC) in Fitchburg.

After Dark Fashion and Art Show

This community showcase mobilized numerous local artists (youth and adult) and aspiring models to parade with their art works in a fabulous fashion show filled with enthusiasm and camaraderie.

The Closet Shop

This project collects gently used clothing and necessary household items and distributes them for free to families in need. Items can be picked up  or delivered to individuals and families.
