Community Organizing
A central goal of community organizing is to bring community members together, across differences, to understand and advocate for the interests of the community. It includes empowering residents with knowledge through our Steward Leadership Development Training, amplifying the voices of those not often heard and supporting community members as they take a seat as decision-making tables.
Community Organizers
Residents lead NewVue Communities. We believe YOU, the people of North Central Massachusetts, know best when it comes to improving your lives and neighborhoods. We’re here to provide the resources, tools and expertise to help you realize your community vision. Our staff, board members and volunteers connect personally with residents – who we call stewards – to cultivate a network of leaders empowered to initiate action and drive change.
NewVue Communities relies on concerned residents like you! For more information about our Community Organizing initiatives contact Francisco Ramos at

Leadership Trainings
Are you ready to lead and create positive change? Our Stewards Leadership Development Training builds powerful community leaders through personal and professional learning opportunities. Training courses are designed to meet the shared interests and needs of current and aspiring leaders, as articulated by those involved in community engagement. All training is free, accessible, multi-lingual and offered via Zoom. We’ve trained and graduated more than 350 stewards in the past four years. To grow our network of committed leaders, we aim to graduate 300 more in the next five years.

Mini Grants
NewVue Communities supports projects spearheaded by our resident leaders who have participated and graduated from one or more of our steward training courses. Support can take different forms, from providing technical assistance to offering referrals to resources and/or governmental offices that support projects.
When funds are available, NewVue also supports steward-sponsored projects with mini grants through our Steward Activation Fund. Mini grants range from $1,000 to $2,000 per project and are awarded through a formal Request for Proposals (RFP) process. All grant recipients must submit a final report after implementing their projects, to remain eligible for any future funding through NewVue.
Signature Events
NewVue is known for our signature events, which have transformed our community by celebrating culture, diversity, and multilingualism. Please join us in these fun annual, family-oriented celebrations, which are entertaining and full of fun activities.
Health Equity Campaign
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, NewVue developed an educational campaign in Fitchburg and Leominster to distribute public information about the virus and vaccine clinics. The ongoing effort is a close collaboration with the Fitchburg and Leominster boards of health and Community Health Connections, our community health center. As COVID has become more contained through annual vaccines, we’ve expanded our focus to promote additional vaccinations (such as flu) and other local health services, including NewVue’s Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program (CLPPP). Our work also involves outreach that helps us learn what factors keep people from accessing the health services that are available and they deserve.
